2026 Season
Schedule & Results
The basics
About the League
- 2026 season starts Sunday, June 14 (Opening Day), running through late August with playoffs into early September
- Games are Wednesday or Thursday nights at Burland Ballfields (1810 Bluebird Dr., Bailey, CO)
- Game times are 5:45pm and 7:00pm (adjusted earlier as daylight requires), plus occasional Sunday afternoon games
- Recreational — all skill levels welcome
- Co-Ed. Teams of 12–14 players, at least 6 girls and 6 guys (14 max)
- Form your own team or partial team — but keep it recreational, don’t stack it
- Regular-season games plus playoffs (playoff weeks may shift to fit in rain-outs)
- $100 per player, per season — due by 6/18/2026 (Venmo @PCASL, checks to Platte Canyon Adult Softball League, or cash)
- Comes with a t-shirt
- Guys must use wood bats
- All proceeds donated to Platte Canyon Little League
Play ball
League Rules
For any rules not shown below, USA Softball 2026 Rules apply, and League Supervisors get final say on all calls. The most important rule is to have fun — every rule here exists to maximize the fun for everyone. If you want to yell at umpires and win at all costs, this isn’t the league for you.
Rosters & Batting Order
- Rosters consist of 12 players (6 guys, 6 girls).
- Separate batting orders for guys and girls; from there, guys and girls alternate at bat.
- League subs must be used first if available; otherwise replacement players may be found to avoid a forfeit.
- Teams must have at least 8 players to play.
- Rotate players in the field so everyone gets roughly equal innings.
Games
- Games last 55 minutes or 7 innings, whichever comes first.
- After 55 minutes, the current inning is finished and the game is over.
- No run rules — good sportsmanship expected if a team gets way ahead.
- If tied at time, one extra inning: each team starts a runner at 2nd (last out), batters get 2 pitches max, a strike/foul tip is an out, 2 balls is a walk.
Batting
- Batters start with 1 strike; fouling off the 3rd strike gives one extra strike, then a foul is an out.
- Start with 1 ball; 4 balls is a walk. Guys get 2 bases on a walk.
- Pitches must arc 6′ to 10′ high and hit the plate or the mat behind it.
- Max 2 over-the-fence home runs per team, per game; extras are an out.
Bats
- Guys must use wood bats (league provides). Wood baseball bats are OK; softball bats encouraged.
- A wood bat is any bat a reasonable person would call wood.
- No modified bats. No metal baseball bats.
- League has final say on allowed bats, ruling on player safety.
Baserunning
- Sliding isn’t required, but make every effort to avoid collisions.
- Unsafe plays will be called out; egregious ones may draw a warning or ejection.
- Running to first, touch the orange bag (or the outer part of the base).
- Turning toward second after first can be tagged out — turn toward the dugouts to return.
- Touch the bag or black mat at home to avoid collisions.
- No leading off — stay on the base until contact; leaving early is an out.
- One pinch runner per inning (last out/score of the same sex); umps may allow more for injury.
- Umpires will call close plays as outs to keep play safe.
Fielding
- 10 fielders at a time, even number of girls and guys.
- Infielders start on the infield; outfielders start in the outfield.
- Outfielders start behind a set line when girls are batting.
- First basemen use the inner bag / inside of the base.
- Use restraint on tags; close plays called as outs to avoid aggressive play.
- All fielders need a glove; a broken glove may be replaced mid-inning.
Alcohol & Dogs
- No alcohol — these fields are managed by the Little League.
- Anyone intoxicated or under the influence will be asked to leave.
- No dogs near the fields (Little League rule); dogs are fine up in the parking lot.
Discipline
- Argue a call once, respectfully — then move on.
- Umpire and League Supervisor may remove any player at any time if needed.
- The League Supervisor may suspend or expel players (who may plead their case first).
- No yelling at umpires or other teams, or obnoxious behavior. Move on.
Music
- Music should not be audible on the field during play so umpires can communicate.
- Music is fine before/after games and between innings if respectful — umps and supervisors may shut it down at any time.
