{"id":78,"date":"2024-03-14T21:26:38","date_gmt":"2024-03-14T21:26:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/plattecanyonadultsoftballleague.com\/?page_id=78"},"modified":"2026-04-04T16:57:16","modified_gmt":"2026-04-04T15:57:16","slug":"rules-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/plattecanyonadultsoftballleague.com\/index.php\/rules-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Rules"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-page\" data-elementor-id=\"78\" class=\"elementor elementor-78\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8b60e09 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"8b60e09\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ed5d1cc elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"ed5d1cc\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">LEAGUE RULES<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f10c129 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f10c129\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>*For any rules not shown below, USA Softball 2025 Rules will apply, and League Supervisors get final say on all calls.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-464c9a4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"464c9a4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Most important rule is to have fun, and all league rules are meant to maximize the fun for everyone.\u00a0 In all circumstances we will try to play and avoid forfeits.\u00a0 If you want to yell at umpires and win at all costs, this isn&#8217;t the league for you.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6c27dd9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6c27dd9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Rosters &amp; Batting Order<\/strong><\/span>:<\/p><ul><li>Rosters will consist of 12 players (6 guys, 6 girls)\u00a0<\/li><li>A separate batting order is made for guys and girls that includes all players.\u00a0 From there, guys and girls alternate who is at bat.<\/li><li>The League hopes to provide subs that can be requested when necessary.\u00a0 League subs must be used first if they are available.\u00a0 If not, replacement players may be found if a team doesn&#8217;t have 10 players.\u00a0 That person preferably wouldn&#8217;t play for another team in the League, but avoiding a forfeit is top priority.<\/li><li>Teams must have at least 8 players to play<\/li><li>Teams must rotate players in the field with best efforts made so that everyone gets equal innings in the field.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-32ac2e3 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"32ac2e3\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-cf9cdd9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"cf9cdd9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Games<\/strong><\/span>:<\/p><ul><li>Games last 55 minutes or 7 innings, whichever comes first<\/li><li>After 55 minutes, innings are finished and then the game is over<\/li><li>There are no run rules.\u00a0 If one team gets way ahead it would be hoped they would show sportsmanship, or the umpire is allowed to suggest ways to make the remaining game more fun for everyone.<\/li><li>If the game is tied when time is up, there is 1 extra inning.\u00a0 In that inning, both teams start with a runner at 2nd base (last out), and batters get 2 pitches maximum.\u00a0 A strike or foul tip is an out.\u00a0 2 balls is a walk.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-182edb6 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"182edb6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Batting<\/strong><\/span>:<\/p><ul><li>Batters start with 1 strike.\u00a0 If a batter fouls off the 3rd strike, they receive one extra strike.\u00a0 Another foul ball results in an out.<\/li><li>Batter starts with 1 ball and 4 balls is a walk.\u00a0 Guys get 2 bases if walked to avoid walking guys to get to girls.\u00a0 Hitting will be encouraged, nobody came here to walk or watch walks.<\/li><li>Pitches must go 6&#8242; to 10&#8242; high and hit the plate or the mat behind it.\u00a0<\/li><li>2 over the fence HR&#8217;s maximum per team, per game.\u00a0 Additional home runs are an out.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ea50b52 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ea50b52\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Bats<\/span><\/strong>:<\/p><ul><li>Guys must use wood bats (league will provide). Wood baseball bats are ok, but softball bats are encouraged.\u00a0 <\/li><li>The definition of a wood bat is any bat a reasonable person would determine is wood<\/li><li>No modified bats may be used<\/li><li>No metal baseball bats may be used<\/li><li>League reserves the final say on allowed bats, and will rule based on player safety<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-491388a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"491388a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Baserunning<\/strong><\/span>:<\/p><ul><li>Sliding is not required on close plays, but all efforts must be made to avoid collisions.\u00a0<\/li><li>Anybody deemed to have created an unsafe play will be called out.\u00a0 In the case of an especially unsafe play, a warning or ejection may be given if warranted.<\/li><li>When running to first base, runners must touch the orange bag, or if there is no orange bag, must touch the outer part of first base to avoid collisions.<\/li><li>If a player runs through first base and turns towards second base, they can be tagged out (must turn towards dugouts to return to first).<\/li><li>Players running to home may touch the bag or the black mat to avoid collisions.<\/li><li>No leading off.\u00a0 All baserunners must stay on the base until contact is made with the ball.\u00a0 Anybody leaving early or leading off will be called out.<\/li><li>A pinch runner may be used once an inning (or an ump can allow more in case of injury).\u00a0 The pinch runner must be last person who got out or scored of the same sex.<\/li><li>Umpires will be encouraged to call all close plays as outs to avoid overly aggressive play.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-20465a4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"20465a4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Fielding<\/span>:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>10 players on the field at a time with an even number of girls and guys<\/li><li>Infielders must start all plays on the infield, Outfielders must start all plays in the outfield<\/li><li>There will be a line in the outfield that all fielders must start behind when girls are batting<\/li><li>First basemen must use the inner bag, or make all efforts to use the inside of the base if there is only one base.<\/li><li>Fielders should use restraint when making tags or going for the ball.\u00a0 Again, umpires will be encouraged to call close plays as outs to avoid aggressive play.\u00a0 overly aggressive play.<\/li><li>All fielders must have a glove.\u00a0 If a fielders glove breaks mid-inning, they may find a replacement.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-86807a7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"86807a7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Alcohol\/Dogs:<\/strong><\/span><\/p><ul><li>No alcohol.\u00a0 Please respect that these fields are managed by the Little League so we don&#8217;t want to see it.<\/li><li>Anybody who is intoxicated or under the influence will be asked to leave.<\/li><li>No dogs near the fields.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a Little League rule, and for good reason, even though we love dogs.\u00a0 Dogs can be up in the parking lot.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ddf0c00 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ddf0c00\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Discipline:<\/strong><\/span><\/p><ul><li>Players may argue calls once in a respectful manner.\u00a0 After that, it&#8217;s time to move on.<\/li><li>The umpire and League Supervisor have the right to kick out any player at any time if they feel it is necessary.<\/li><li>League Supervisor has the right to further suspend or expel players, with players having a right to plead their case first.<\/li><li>There is no room for yelling at umpires, other teams, or obnoxious behavior.\u00a0 This isn&#8217;t the World Series and you aren&#8217;t going pro.\u00a0 Move on.<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a210315 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a210315\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Music:<\/strong><\/span><\/p><ul><li>Music should not be audible on the field during play so that umpires can communicate.<\/li><li>Music is allowed before and after games, and between innings, so long as it is respectful.\u00a0 Umpires and Supervisors have full authority to shut down all music at any time.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a86d65f e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\"
